Shedding What is No Longer Working

18 December 2009 No Comment

This season has been all about shedding and getting rid of, an activity that I’ve traditionally thought of as “spring cleaning”. I’ve been busy as a bee cleaning out clothing from my bedroom closet that is either outdated, worn, or what I recognized only later was a fashion disaster, getting rid of clutter on my kitchen counter tops, re-decorating the top of my kitchen cabinets so they too have less stuff, re-painting my daughter’s bathroom, streamlining the decor in my bedroom, and last but not least evaluating and shedding the activities that haven’t contributed to building my business.
I’m sure you too have items and activities that you need to shed. The key question to ask yourself is, “what am I doing that no longer serves me?”

Here are some places to look:

* What activities are wasting my time?
* What activities do I no longer enjoy?
* What resources do I have that I might be neglecting? Resources can apply to time, space, or people.
* What am I attached to that keeps me going round in circles?
* What activities have produced results?
* What activities should I let go off because they proved to be unproductive?
* What am I doing that may no longer be necessary?
* What do I no longer need?
* Do I enjoy the decor in my home? Is it too cluttered and bursting at the seams with stuff?
* Who are the people who get me down and drain my energy? How much time am I spending with them?
* Do my clothes makes me feel confident about myself?
* Are my clothes and hairstyle stuck in a decade long past?
* Am I pushing myself without taking time for rest and rejuvenation?

There are certainly more questions you can ask yourself, but the measuring stick is to discover what’s working and what’s not working.

I invite you to look to see what you can shed in your own life.
